Meta Zimmeck, Research Manager Meta Zimmeck has worked in social research for over twenty years and is a specialist in housing and third sector research, particularly funding issues and volunteering. She was head of the Voluntary and Community Research Section in the Home Office for six years and was responsible for a complex portfolio of programme evaluations, evidence-based policy briefings, and blue-sky research projects such as the UK Census of Befriending and Mentoring and the State of the Sector Panel. She also worked in academic research projects on homelessness; for third sector infrastructure bodies such as the National Housing and Town Planning Council, Volunteering England, the Finance Hub and the Compact Commission; and for policy organisations such as the Royal Society of Arts. She has a BA in history and sociology from Wittenberg University, an MA in European social and economic history from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and an MA in social history from the University of Sussex. She is a visiting fellow of the Centre for the Study of Voluntary and Community Activity, School of Business and Social Sciences, Roehampton University, and a board member of the Voluntary Action History Society (VAHS). She is also a member of the Market Research Society and the Social Research Association.
